Problem and Solution

Sustainability is something I deeply care about, but for some, “sustainability” is just a buzzword in the media. Though I’m working on a sustainability certification, it is such a broad field that it can be overwhelming to know where to begin learning. I decided to narrow my focus and educate others on a topic that is not widely talked about: sustainable knitting.

When people want information, they usually do not seek out eLearnings. I wanted to capture an audience of those who love knitting and the whole community. I created the campaign: Earth Needs You to Give a Knit.

Process

After the concept was born, I began my research. During this phase, I utilized my whiteboard, notebooks, and my favorite: Post-it notes. I started by writing the voice over script.

After that, I hired a professional Dayton-area voice artist: Moore Voice Acting. Once they sent me the narration, I edited the audio in Audacity.

I created the video using Vyond. I was able to import the narration audio from Vyond, and used Vyond's built-in text-to-speech feature for the voice of the grandma character in the video. Since Vyond has limited elements, I used freepik.com for EPS files of different plant-based yarn types. To get the pieces I wanted, I edited the vector images in Adobe Illustrator before uploading the JPEG to Vyond.

I am currently working on an accompanying infographic in Adobe InDesign.
