Beyond Covid
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise
This eLearning was created for Phelps Health, and cannot be shared on this site but I am able to share some screenshots.
Overview
I was approached by the Director of Clinical Education to create an eLearning helping nurses with the interpretation of arterial blood gas in COVID-19 patients.
Process
I worked with SMEs to understand this topic and what the nurses need to know and do in order to interpret ABGs. I then entered different patient reports that the nurses will have to evaluate which patient to see first and how to help their treatment. This is done in Articulate Rise.
Development
I used Articulate Storyline to create a drag-and-drop interaction using hotspots and triggers for nurses to create a chart based on the patient’s critical lab results.

Nurses then have to interpret the chart.

Result
Nurse training can be difficult, because time spent in training is time away from patients. The feedback I receive from directors and managers confirm that this eLearning is effective at quickly giving nurses the skills and information they need to help patients.
Takeaway
This is a small sample of what I created in Storyline and Rise.
Even though I do not have a clinical background, working with SMEs and developing clinical eLearning helps me to understand who my learners are (and now, the knowledge of interpreting arterial blood gas is forever burned into my brain).
